  23.           XXXXmmmmAAAAccccttttiiiivvvvaaaatttteeeePPPPrrrroooottttooooccccoooollll activates a protocol. It updates the
  24.           handlers and the _p_r_o_p_e_r_t_y if the _s_h_e_l_l is realized. It is
  25.           sometimes useful to allow a protocol's state information
  26.           (callback lists, and so on) to persist, even though the
  27.           client may choose to temporarily resign from the
  28.           interaction. This is supported by allowing a _p_r_o_t_o_c_o_l to be
  29.           in one of two states: active or inactive. If the _p_r_o_t_o_c_o_l is
  30.           active and the _s_h_e_l_l is realized, the _p_r_o_p_e_r_t_y contains the
  31.           _p_r_o_t_o_c_o_l AAAAttttoooommmm.  If the _p_r_o_t_o_c_o_l is inactive, the AAAAttttoooommmm is not
  32.           present in the _p_r_o_p_e_r_t_y.
  33.
  34.           XXXXmmmmAAAAccccttttiiiivvvvaaaatttteeeeWWWWMMMMPPPPrrrroooottttooooccccoooollll is a convenience interface.  It calls
  35.           XXXXmmmmAAAAccccttttiiiivvvvaaaatttteeeePPPPrrrroooottttooooccccoooollllwith the property value set to the atom
  36.           returned by interning WWWWMMMM____PPPPRRRROOOOTTTTOOOOCCCCOOOOLLLLSSSS.
  37.
  38.           _s_h_e_l_l     Specifies the widget with which the protocol
  39.                     property is associated
  40.
  41.           _p_r_o_p_e_r_t_y  Specifies the protocol property
